How long will my tire last after getting patched from having a nail in it?

i took my car to saturn yesterday to see what was wrong with my tire and they found a nail in it. they took it out and plugged it up instead of replacing it. they also said it may not hold so keep an eye on it. how long will it hold or should i buy a new tire? also what pressure psi should a tire on a car be it to get good gas mileage? How long will my tire last after getting patched from having a nail in it?
the plugs they use are chemically bonded in to the tyre...they should last ok....the garage has just covered there back saying it may not hold....but it will if they have done it properly. How long will my tire last after getting patched from having a nail in it?
well first off tire plugging is a temporary way of repairing a tire and shouldnt have been plug but should have been patch and really most of the time tire repairs work for life of tires tread if done right pulg want right way but sometimes they hold just as well sometimes they dont and will leak would have been better to had a patch placed inside and as for fuel mileage add five pounds more than what your owners manual says or what is on driver door or run max pressure which is on tires side wall really depends on drive to watch tires for wear to know what air they need since each person weight and who or what they carry in car will vary what id do is look at what manual says right for your car look at what max is on tire and anywhere between more air better mileage but you stil need to watch wear and adjust with any tire
Although your tire may not hold, that's really just something they say as a precautionary measure. I've never had a tire repair not last the life of the tire. As far as the tire pressure goes, I have no idea what is the best for gas milage, we folllow the recommended psi so we get even ware on the tires.
If the repair was done properly, that tire will last as long as the others. It's good to keep an eye on it but you were doing that anyway, right? The best mileage is obtained by tires inflated to the very maximum--I go a bit higher.
As long as the rest of your tires will. Patches do not ruin the integrity of the tire IF they installed it correctly. 33-35psi
i had them plugged before and i ran them clean out before buying a new tire. if the plug is on the bottom then it should last a long time.
