My husband ran over his toe and it almost took the nail off. Can it reattach itself?

It seems to be hanging on by the nail bed only.My husband ran over his toe and it almost took the nail off. Can it reattach itself?
It's lost, cut it off and protect his toe. After 3 months he'll get a brand new one. I suffered the same thing with my thumb nail.My husband ran over his toe and it almost took the nail off. Can it reattach itself?
Egh, no. It's going to fall off totally (after turning black) and then have to grow back in afresh.

.
No that nail is long gone, it can not reatatch its self because its blood supply has been cut off, it will more than likely turn a black color and fall off. And when the new one gros back which it will, it will probably be a dark color and not look very healthy because he damaged the nerves and blood vessels in the toe. Just keep it wrapped and moist for the new toenail to grow in.
no but his nail will grow back.
The nail itself will probably fall off. He needs to keep it bandaged for awhile so it can heal. The nail will begin to grow back, though.
It will fall out and a new one will grow. But the new one might look funny
No. He should see a doctor so he can get advice on how to take care of his foot so that the nail will grow back normally and not into his skin or someting like that.
It will fall off and a new one will grow in.
If you can, take it off, thats if it doenst hurt too much. The nail itself will grow back. Then put some antibiotics on it to make sure it doesnt get infected.

if it hurts, go to the doctor to take it off so it just doesn't rip off, which will be VERY painful
