When installing vinyl skirting is it okay to nail through the vinyl skiding on house?

I need to install the top skirting rail onto my vinyl siding, if I nail through the siding I'm locking the siding into place and not allowing for expansion. Will this be much of a problem or should I take the time to cut slots into the siding to allow for movement?

Thanks. When installing vinyl skirting is it okay to nail through the vinyl skiding on house?
You should install the top piece of undersill trim first and then lock in the last piece of siding and slip the edge under the trim.

Your local vinyl supply store sells a slotting tool specifically for that purpose. They also sell a tabbing tool that punches a locking tab in the vinyl so that when you push the cut edge up into the trim piece, it hooks on the inner edge and can't come out.
It shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you leave enough room for the installation of reversible sedgewicks.
