First soak your hands in some soapy water (or after a bath will work.) Then trim, file, and buff your nails. Then use a product to moisturize your cuticles - Sally Hansens is great. Then push back and trim your cuticles. Next wash hands very well with a nail brush (or an old toothbrush will work) to remove all oils. Dry them very well. Apply a thin base coat and take it over the tips of your nails. Then apply two thin coats of your favorite color. Make sure you roll and don't shake your color. Allow each coat to dry completely about 5-10 minutes depending on the brand. Make sure your polish is fresh and not thick on the brush. After applying the color finish with a top coat and again take it over the tips of your nails. Wait about five minutes and use Sally Hansens quick dry or baby oil over the tops.
My favorite brands are Sally for base and top coats and Revlon for color. They can last a year or even more if you keep the lid on tight and don't leave the brush out for too long at a time. I've found that the Quick Dry type don't last as long, if you are really worried about longevity. Just throw it out when it looks thick on the brush - you can try adding nail polish remover but it'll never be the same, it looses its luster. Good luck. What's the best way to apply nail polish so it will last?
Put a few drops of super glue in your nail polish

in case anyone wants to know to really make fingernail polish last a long time , before polishing your nails first apply white vinegar or soak them in lemon or lime juice first. This cleans your nails of all impurities

I dont care about this but thx for the tip!!

I think that the tip to roll the nail polish bottle, not shake it, was the best fit to the question. But your entire answer sounded fantastic to me.

The bumps come from air bubbles in nail enamel that is not completely top-dry. THIN coats are the key- allow each coat to top dry about five minutes. Then every few days, apply a thin coat of a clear top coat to keep enamel looking fresh.

Teddie M, I am a manicurist, you dont want to use water and soap, before applying nail polish. Your nails soaked in water make the nail beds expand. File, apply cuticle REMOVER, push back with q-tip, THEN wash hands, apply rubbing alchol to nail bed, ensuring all the nail bed is removed of oil

Put two coats of polish on and then put a coat of Top Coat on, let dry for twenty minutes.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend OPI's Chip Skip!! It's GREAT!! It's just a liquid that comes in a nailpolish bottle, and it makes the nailpolish last VERY LONG!

wow you do your nails way to much hun. do you ever go outside and do sports or are you to scared you're gonna break a nail

The best way to keep polish on is to use a non-chip paint , at the end. Its clear and you can not see it and it wont come off!!
Hope it helps!!!

put 2 codings on it so it will last!!!

I would recommend applying a clear, smooth top coat first, then applying the colors smoothly. After that apply one or two layers of top coat, but not too many layers, because too many layers causes the paint to peel quickly. Make sure the top coat is perfect, not too thin, or too thick. If it's too thin, it doesn't stay, and if it's too thick, it peels. There are a LOT of brands that are good, and I can't decide which brands are best!!! Polish can last a long time as long as it's not too thick, but in case you do run across really thick polish, I would recommend diluting it so it lasts longer.
O\kay now you need nail polish made by Maybelineen very best
products that all women loves . Suggestion use less that
way no air bubbles will appear after words
revlon is execellent n when u put it on u should put a like a clear 1 over it like on top so it will last long n on a bottle u have to shake them often if u want them to last it dosent matter if u use it or not juss shake em well.
The nail has to start perfectly smooth, clean and buffed, with the cuticle pushed back and trimmed off.
Then you apply 2-3 very sheer coats of color. If your coat is too thick, you will get air bubbles. Do not do this with a fan on or in moving air. If you have the fan on while you are applying the polish, it will get bumpy. Allow the coats 10-15 minutes each to dry (with fan on).
After you do that, apply a top coat. After 5 minutes, gently put baby oil on the top coat.
If this seems like too much trouble, then get Avon Instant manicure. It's nail polish that you just lay on the nail in strips. It takes 10 minutes, and it's dry when it goes on.
I really like the brand NYC. After you apply the nail polish you should apply a top coat (clear). When you use the top coat it will last long and be shiny.
1. Soak them for about 5 minutes in manicure soaking solution (sold in beauty supply stores).
2. Apply cuticle remover cream on your fingernails.
3. Push back and remove cuticles around each fingernail.
4. Hone the entire top surface of each fingernail with a coarse grit nail emery board.
5. Finish with a fine grit emery board.
6. Wash and dry your hands.
7. Apply a buffer cream on each fingernail and buff with a buffer the top surface of each fingernail until it achieves a glassy feeling. (buffers and buffing creams are sold in beauty supply stores.)
8. Apply a base coat nail polish (OPI brand is the best). Wait to dry.
9. Apply two coats of colored nail polish (OPI brand). Wait to dry.
10. Apply a top coat nail polish. (OPI brand).
This manicure will last 4 weeks.
I believe OPI brand can be bought either in salons or beauty supply stores only. Internet definitely sells it. It is a professional brand (not over-the-counter one).
I like Sally Hansen! All are good!
1st use a bottome clear coat. Let dry.
2nd use your main color choice. Let dry.
3rd use the clear coat as top coat. Let dry.
I never have problems with Sally Hansen!
Best to buy the product in that plastic bubble wrap, so you know nobody else has messed with it in the store. Which can serverly cut the life of the nail polish. Store in a cool dark place. Not in sunlight ever!
Use dishwashing gloves on dishes, and other household chores!
O.P.I, and Revlon +Iron are great. Shiseido isn't bad, either. I can wear all of those brands for days. Apply a thin coat the first day, then when it starts to fade, add a second thin coat. Use a sheer top coat when you need a shine boost, or to even out a color :) Thin layers of polish fade less often and are harder to chip.
I have the same problem with bubbles/bumps after a few hours or applications.
What I discovered was;
applying your polish and not allowing enough dry-time between coats then that can cause the bumps. allowing about 20-30mins between coats should do it.
How I get my nail color to last without it chipping off is by using 'Healthy Hoof' lacquer. You can find it in Sally's beauty supply and drug stores in the cosmetic section. But please google it so you know what the bottle looks like.
It really works. It even helps prevent cracks and breaks too. My mother introduced me to it and I love it. My nail color doesn't fade either.
Now for excess nail color that you get on your skin around the nail; wait until your nail color is completely dry - that means with no chance of smudging. Either when you shower, wash dishes or your hands use a washcloth to rub away the color on your skin. Trust me it works. It beats using those stupid nail correctors that could take off your polish.
Don't forget; Healthy Hoof lacquer. It's awesome stuff.
Doing our nails is all about pampering ourselves so take your time ladies.
stay away from the cheap versions(aha)-- how you apply it may not matter!
but the best way is-- get it done by a proffesional manicurist
First, clean off your nails with nail polish remover. It is a little trick that you learn when doing nails. It removes the oil off of your fingers which makes the nail polish come off. Then apply a base coat. By the time you do the last nail you can start on the first coat of polish. Apply two thin coats of polish and put on a top coat. This is what will prevent your polish from coming off. The bumps that you get on your nails is from the air in your polish. Before you use any nail polish, turn it upside down and roll it inbetween your hands, for about 30 seconds. That will mix the color together and get rid of the air. Don't tap it on the palm of your hand. A lot of people do that and it isn't good. That is just reincorporating air into the polish and might break off the wand inside.
well if you apply one coat then do your otha hand then go bak and put a 2nd coat on each of them then sit still till they dry theyll look pro
try avon's nail polish, and our newand our new instant manicure strips various colours long lasting, new instant manicure dry nail enamel strips give it as seen on tv it works. our local tv station does a segiment on new products called does it works , it does and looks good all day. call your avon representative today.
OPI
1st buff those nails with the 4 sided buffer thing. wash your hands, and dry them off. mosturize slightly, then pat dry. base coat. color. top coat. thin layers. don't glop it on. do it when you have time so that it dries properly. some baby oil, or carrot oil applied on at the very very end will make it shine, and dry better, and last longer. i use all brands for wet 'n wild to loreal....they all chip off after max 6 days...the bumps are air bubbles...or maybe the polish is old. hold the brush flat. also, i've heard that if you refrigerate nail polish, it last longer. i have still yet to try that...but....it wouldn't hurt to try.
What's the best way to apply nail polish so it will last?
Apply base coat, then 2 coats of color, then top coat. Let the polish dry completely between coats
What brands are best? Max Factor, Revlon, Avon
How long does polish last in the bottle? 1 1/2 years
I've had trouble with polish that looks okay when I apply it, but after a few hours it has small bumps in it.
This is because you are not letting it dry between coats or you are putting it on too thick and it is not dry under the surface
first thing is dont sheke your nail polish bottle only roll it to mix it slightly. this is where bubbles come from. after using nail polish remover make sure to clean your hands with soap and water this will take the remnants of the remover off your nails. use a base coat i prefer ';stickey'; by creative it is a bluish green color. next apply your nailpolish i prefer opi nail polish only apply 2 coats the there are to products you can use to top coat one is called drip dri by opi but is expensive it is ion dropper form two drops and they are good in less then a minute or you can use ';seche vite'; it is little thick when you put it on but thins out as it drys
They told me you should never shake your nail polish, thats what causes the bumps. To mix the color, roll it back and forth in your hand. The brands that I like best are OPI and Creative. They are expensive ($6) but are well worth the price to me. Gives me the professional look at home.
sally hanson, revlon,M.A.C are all good. Polish generally lasts for 6 months and will dry up after that. The bumps on your nail probably come from moisture particles.. make sure you don't swish the polish too much or have damp hands and wet nails when you apply it..
Do 2 coats, and a good clear top coat.
i take a nail brush and scrub my nails and make sure they are clean before i start. then i apply about three coats on each nail. make sure you dont touch them prematurely and that they arent overly wet when you apply the next coat. then i apply a clear top coat. mine last me a few weeks if not more. brands havent seemed to make a big difference to me.
Seriously: My body produces excess oils so polish doesn't stay on it long, so I buff it with the special emory board that each side gets more and more polished. I've got compliments on the 'clear polish' on my nails. Also, I've used acrylic pink/white. Yes, it's artificial tips, but the color lasts until your nail bed grows out. And polish from bottle lasts longer on artificial nails. I personally never found an actual polish that lasted longer than 2 days on MY nails.
Put on about two or three coats. Put a coat of clear nail polish on over it to make it last.
listen... its not the way you apply the nail polish that actually matters. its the make and the colour so basicly if you get a crappy cheap make the polish will only last for a day or two at the most though if you get a good make it may last up to a week. my favourites are avons nail polishes and bourjois new line of polishes. hope i helped you with my answer
o.p.i. nail polish is really good
expensive, but good
push your cuticles back, this will help the polish stay on longer near the bottom of your nails
then put a layer of clear base coat on
let that dry-in front of a fan helps, not too strong though and with cold air NOT hot
then you put on the color that you want-not too think but evenly
let that dry again with cool air
finally put the top coat of clear on-let that dry the longest
another good thing to do it go to a nail place and get a manicure it usually cost 5-10 dollars
then you cansee how they do it and then you can do it yourslef at home!
good luck!
Get it done profressionally in a nail salon. they know how to it last. They can put 50 layers of nail polish and there would never be any bumps and it last for a long time (2 weeks to a month for me)
treat it after applying polish with clear epoxy glue used for boat building....last for a lonng time
apply in an airfree room.in careful strokes from thumb to nail edge.Wrap the stroke a little over the nail edge for lasting effect.
sally hansen are the best...
Color you nails (2-3 coats) and stay away from hand washing hehehe!!!
u need to apply a thick thick covering horizontally and then over again vertically to ensure that it wont have those small bumps in it afterwards and the best brand is deifinately sallyhansen. best of luck to u!
