Well my mom took my dog to get a haircut, and well, they accidentally passed my dogs vein on only 1 of her toes. What will happen? I did use cold water for it. But will anything bad happen to my dog? What happens when you accidentally cut past your dog's nail and it hits the vein and starts bleeding?
When you cut too much of the dog's nail or 'quicked' your dog, the only effect is some pain and blood. Your dog will not die from this, but you can use flour or cornstarch at home and either dip the nail in it or put it directly on the nail. You can also use a product like quik-stop.
This is very common actually. It is often difficult to judge where the blood supply is located in the nail if they are black and have longer quicks than the trimmer might expect. While it is not something you want to occur, it happens to both goomers and veterinarians (or vet techs and assistants as they are usually the ones to perform the pedicure).
Keep an eye on your dog for the next day or two and look for any swelling or limping. While yes, it can get infected, it is rare. If your dog begins to show signs of an infection or pain in the food, see your veterinarian.
Good luck! What happens when you accidentally cut past your dog's nail and it hits the vein and starts bleeding?
This happens quite frequently in a grooming shop. It is not serious or dangerous.
You try to clip the nails of a dog who is not cooperating. Jerking %26amp; pulling, jumping %26amp; biting, twisting %26amp; turning. Sometimes it just happens.
Most dogs are touchy about their feet %26amp; if they get hurt they often are reluctant to go back %26amp; will fight the process the next time.
Handle your dogs feet to get them used to having their feet touched. Handle them often. Make it as easy on your pet as you can. Rub between the toes, hold the paws, so that they won't fight so hard.
nothing bad will happen,, except he may be more leery when it comes to his next clipping.
As a dog groomer this happens from time to time. Unless the dog has a bleeding disorder, nothing serious will happen. To stop th enail from bleeding we recommend dipping the nail in flour to help stop and clot the nail from bleeding. Also keep the dog calm for alittle while so the dog's blood pressure stays lower which helps control the bleeding. You also can use styptic powder but that tends to burn alot.
If this happens and it bleeds you can use white flour or a product called ';quick stop';-which does burn but stops the bleeding...
It isn't ideal but cutting too short won't ';hurt'; the dog (physically yes, long term consequences, not likely)...
what morons, you payed them and that's what they when and did ..cut your dog ... not very professional... well i don't think its to bad.. ummm use some peroxide to stop the bleeding
If you cut to the quick which is where the blood vein is you can make your dog bleed to death if it was cut to deep.
ask the vet to cut his nails for now on... he won't die, but it might get infected so, treat it quick, go to the vet, or just call him
