Is it ok to use nail polish remover to clean off the thermal compound?
Is it ok to use Nail polish remover to clean off the old thermal compound? I believe it has acetone. Thanks. Is it ok to use nail polish remover to clean off the thermal compound?
I wouldn't use anything even remotely caustic. Use what the directions tell you to use (I just use a paper towel - comes off pretty easily). Is it ok to use nail polish remover to clean off the thermal compound?
Hi. Yes if you are careful to only get it on the die. The heatsink will be OK. Just a tiny bit.
No... No.... No.... it should wipe off easily enough from the chips. You can use it on your hands but NOT on the chips! It eats silicone!!!! Chips are made of silicone.
Yes. I used acetone once and no damage was done to the CPU. However, I found that it didn't dissolve the thermal compound very easily. You have to have something to wipe it off with, like a piece of cloth. Cotton might leave residue.
pure rubbing alcohol (2.00 at the dollar store) and a lint free cloth......if artic silver or someother good compound was used, there in no way in he%% your gonna take out the chip and just wipe the stuff off.........cheap junk compound, probably could, but not anything that is good.........and no dont use nail polish removal...........

I recommend to use a paper towel and alchol
but dont do it on or by the motherboard

I have a job interview on Monday for a job I really want. What's one thing I can do to nail it?
Lots of good answers here. I'm not sure what type of person you are, but sometimes when it comes to talking, less is more. People that interview with me ramble and end up giving too much negative info. Answer with as few sentences as possible and ask the interviewer if they would like you to elaborate. Stay confident not arrogant, keep eye contact or at least stare at his/her nose or forehead, when asked ';why did you leave'; only say positive things, and overdress. Write down 10 of the most important talents/experiences that you'll bring and use that as a guide for conversation, unless you can remember every thing on your resume. Remember NOTHING NEGATIVE!!!I have a job interview on Monday for a job I really want. What's one thing I can do to nail it?
Never brag about yourself.
If they ask you, ';...is there anything you don't like to do?';
You respond, ';Yes, rework! yet I can except changes.I have a job interview on Monday for a job I really want. What's one thing I can do to nail it?
Hi,
I'm a psychologist who works with execs %26amp; business owners. Assuming that you have all the credentials necessary for the job itself, the major thing to focus on would be to do some due diligence on the company's history, clients and corporate climate. Knowing such information %26amp; sharing it with the person interviewing conveys interest in them and will be rare. Most interviewees don't express the kind of knowledge/interest in the company that they are interested in working at. It will say alot about you %26amp; your professionalism. Also, despite being nervous which is normal...work on presenting yourself as being likeable and a team player. The person doing the interview is more likely to consider you if they like you and see themselves as being able to work with you.
SMILE, be confident, keep good eye contact and use good body language (no fidgeting, slouching). Sounds silly but if you're nervous you won't realize you're doing these things. Extend your hand for a handshake and introduce yourself to the interviewer. Try not to linger on with your answers and be honest. Tell them why YOU would be a good contribution for THEIR company. Tell them what YOU can offer THEM and why hiring YOU will be THEIR benefit. Keep in mind that in many interviews decisions can be made WITHIN THE FIRST 10 SECONDS (no joke) all based on your body language and how you present yourself to the interviewer. Just that alone can make all the difference in the world. Good Luck!!
There are already some good answers posted. Definitely get yourself prepared. One thing I didn't see is finding out the Vision and Mission statement of the company. Many companies have this information posted on their websites. If not, find out during the interview process.
Remember, you're also interviewing the company to see if it's a good fit for you. You don't want to be out looking for another job in six months.
With this in mind, ask questions about the long-term goals of the company, what will be the plan for the next 5 years, and the best way you can help realize the vision of the company (of course, once this is answered, follow-up with how you can do this for them). Knowing the Vision and Mission will help you highlight your strengths and achievements to show the company you can help them reach their goals.
Good luck!
Wear a business skirt and suit. Depending on if your male or female.
Ask for the job. Say I want this job, I am very interested what are my chances of working here, I can start tomorrow.
Research the company you wish to work for and be prepared. Let the interviewer know that this is the job you truly want without sounding desperate, and try not to show nervousness. Be sure the have the qualifications for the job description and that your work history reflects those skills. Make direct eye contact with the person conducting the interview and portray a positive sense about yourself.
Be all means, do NOT complain about former employers/bosses, ask about the salary or benefits before the position is offered, or mention any personal or health problems. These three things can get a person rejected before the interview is even complete.
research the company on the internet before your interview. Know what they do, how they do it, how they stack up against the competition, what their marketing looks like, what their industry buzz is, etc. Google the CEO and other honchos, see what comes up. Knowing them inside and out will give you confidence in the interview so when they ask you a question like ';what can you bring to our company'; you have an informed intelligent response.
Good luck, we are rooting for ya!
Research the company. Have at least 3 questions to ask the interviewer(s). Before you leave make sure they know that you want the job. And finally, send a thank-you note to the person(s) who interviewed you.
Oh, and be confident!
go here http://content.monster.com/basics/ and take a look at the tips that they offer for interviews
You want to stand out from the other potential interviewees. Don't have cookie-cutter answers or ask those type of questions. Smile. Relax. Connect with the interviewer.
Besides the things you already know (appropriate dress, clean and neat appearance), come prepared. Bring additional copies of your resume. Make sure you have your reference information with you in case they ask for it or you need to put it on an application form. If the company has a website, visit it. Learn about them--it shows you really do want a job with them, not just anywhere. Try to manage to mention that you did check out their website, if they have one. They'll ask if you have any questions. Don't ask something like ';How much time off do I get?'; Ask perhaps about oppportunities for advancement. Again, it shows you're willilng to make a long-term commitment to them (even if, in the end, you decide to leave down the road.)
Oh, I almost forgot: Good luck!!
If you have time, have a friend videotape a mock interview, and then watch yourself. You would be surprised what you will notice about body language, the way you respond to questions, self-confidence or lack thereof - things you can change if you are aware you are doing them. One more piece of advice - ASK FOR THE JOB. Too many people are reluctant to make it clear they really want the job. In my first job interview, many years ago, at the end of the interview I was asked if I had any more questions. Just one - ';when do I start?'; I got the job.
Be prepared! Spend the whole weekend preparing, telling yourself that they'd be lucky to have you for an employee, that you're the perfect candidate, etc. Go over your education and your experience, and know how to relate it to this particular company. Remind yourself that it's not an interview, it's a couple of people sitting down in a room getting to know each other. It helps take the edge off it and keep it real. Have questions for them (besides pay and how long it takes to make a decision). When you're getting ready in the morning, keep telling yourself that they would lucky to have you, etc.
Most of all, don't be a candidate. Be a person! Have a personality, relax, laugh a little, and remember, it's just a conversation.
Never brag about yourself.

Is nail polish unhealthy if it gets on your skin?
I have a ring that I am alergic to. I put nail polish on the inside of it because I heard that this prevents an alergic reaction from happening. But, I'm worried that wearing nail polish against my actual skin is unhealthy. Is it?Is nail polish unhealthy if it gets on your skin?
no, nail polish is only harmful if you inhale to much of it if you just get it on your skin nothing will happen Is nail polish unhealthy if it gets on your skin?
dont wear that ring,or use a different substance

bad idea long term
-your skin is porous and will absorb the chemicals of the nail polish into your system
No, but they make ring liners just for that kind of problem.
why will you put it on your skin?!..眉
i dont think its unhealthy...im not 100% sure though

What is in nail polish remover that makes it so smelly and strong enough to remove polish?
Like what kind of chemical or ingredient is it?What is in nail polish remover that makes it so smelly and strong enough to remove polish?
It's the solvents used in polish remover that causes the smell. With nail polish remover that contains acetone, that is what causes the smell - the acetone in it. In the case of non-acetone polish remover, it is usually either ethyl acetate, methyl acetate, butyl acetate, or a combination of them. Sometimes methyl ethyl ketone is used as well. That is also a solvent. What is in nail polish remover that makes it so smelly and strong enough to remove polish?
It's called Acetone, it is a very strong chemical. [We learned this in chemistry]

I stepped on a rusty nail yesterday it sliced my foot and was bleeding. How long until I need the shot?
You need to have a current tetanus shot within 48 hours.
Most states require students to have a current tetanus shot to go into high school, so you might be OK.
Is it a puncture wound or a cut? Puncture wounds are more apt to get infected, so you might need antibiotics.I stepped on a rusty nail yesterday it sliced my foot and was bleeding. How long until I need the shot?

I dropped a weight on my toe, and the toe nail blue. Will it fall off?
I dropped a weight on my big toe about 2 weeks ago. The nail is blue and black about half way up, starting at the base. Will it fall off?I dropped a weight on my toe, and the toe nail blue. Will it fall off?
yea it will...theres nothing you can really do about it...exept next time mabey wear steel toe boots when you work outI dropped a weight on my toe, and the toe nail blue. Will it fall off?
it's possible that the nail will fall off. although a new one will grow back soon enough. a similar thing happened to me and first, it was black and blue. then it was loose (it was slowly falling off/detaching). then, it fell off when the new nail was about 1/4 grown in.
OUCH! Not only does that sound painful but I'll bet you felt embarrassed when it happened.
If it were my toe, I'd hobble over to a doctor a.s.a.p. and have it looked at.
Hope this helps.
Unlikely, especially if there is now white at the base. The discolored portion will slowly grow out, and be gone in six months or so.

Why sometimes does my nail polish bubble when it dries?
What causes this and how do i fix it so it doesn't happen anymore? Why sometimes does my nail polish bubble when it dries?
Your nail polish shouldn't bubble but try:
New professional brands like OPI or China Glaze
Put your nailpolish in the fridge (Yeah I'm actually serious) to reduce heat bubbles. Why sometimes does my nail polish bubble when it dries?
here are some possible solutions.
1. don't shake your nail polish. instead, tap the bottle lightly on your palm. shaking causes air bubbles.
2. old nail polishes tend to become thick and sticky. if your nail polish is past its prime, buy a replacement.
3. apply nail polish in thin coats. let the polish dry in between coats. thick nail polish dries slowly and is more likely to bubble.
hope that helps!

Vaguely, because that's the style of a French manicure, however it is a French manicure because it's meant to be a natural nail with a white tip... :)
I guess it still counts. But does it really matter if not? :s
Technically yes. But not a traditioal 1.

Hi There.
Its called STOPnGROW.
Although there is other similar products out there that do the same thing.
Its does work as i have used it in the past.
But it washes off easily.
Its retails for around a couple of pounds in any pharmacy or drug store like boots or superdrug.
This is what it looks like...http://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/17214/7d/ccimg.shop.com/230000/230600/230680/products/36296976.jpg
As an alternative you could get false nails at a salon for around 拢25 which stay on for a month or two depending.
And your nails are instantly long, And when they come off you'll find your nails will have grown underneath.
Hope this helps.

Its retails for around a couple of pounds in any pharmacy or drug store like boots or superdrug.
This is what it looks like...http://a248.e.akamai.net/f/248/17214/7d/ccimg.shop.com/230000/230600/230680/products/36296976.jpg
As an alternative you could get false nails at a salon for around 拢25 which stay on for a month or two depending.
And your nails are instantly long, And when they come off you'll find your nails will have grown underneath.
Hope this helps.

I stepped on a nail and it get swelled?
Ok i stepped on a nail like 3 days ago i don't have a wound but it got swelled and hurts so bad, i can barely walk i found out that i need to get tetanus shot and it cost a lot i don't have any insurance right now, is there any other way to get rid of swelling at home?I stepped on a nail and it get swelled?
You need to go and get a tetanus shot ASAP. The incubation period is on average 7 or 8 days but can range from 1 day to 2 months. Shorter the incubation period the worse the severity. The sooner you get the shot, the less at risk you are. This is quite serious, you could die if you have tetanus and don't have the vaccine. Go see a Doctor today please.I stepped on a nail and it get swelled?
NO.
It sounds like it is definitely infected. You NEED to get a tetanus shot, if is extremely dangerous if yu don't because if you do get tetanus it is likely that you would not survive without the shot, I know its expensive but it's worth it considering your health is in danger.
Sorry I sound so dramatic but I want you to understand how important it is. get is ASAP
Meanwhile, at home make sure you keep very clean, and don't let any dirt near that spot, change your socks regularly (fresh clean ones!) and don't walk on it if it gets too painful.
Hope you get better
Get tetanus toxoid.
Many people believe injuries caused by rusty nails are the most dangerous. This is true only if the nail is dirty as well as rusty, as is usually the case. It is the dirt, not the rust, that carries the risk for tetanus.
my suggesting would be getting as much information as you can before taking any action, here
http://www.HealthInsuranceFree.info
is a good place for that purpose.
No you need that tetanus shot. Is there anyone who can help you out with money? You can put ice on it for now but you really need medical treatment.

My dog broke her nail and it is twisted to the side and digging in the thing under the cracked part wat 2 do??
does anyone have suggestions to control her to try to get the nail off she is a rather big dog Rotweiler and pitbull ?? please help !!My dog broke her nail and it is twisted to the side and digging in the thing under the cracked part wat 2 do??
If it's close to the quick, I wouldn't mess with it -- bring her to a groomer or a vet and ask them to snip it for you.My dog broke her nail and it is twisted to the side and digging in the thing under the cracked part wat 2 do??
try to take the nail off. if she starts to squeal, limp, or walk funny on the paw that has the broken nail you should take her to the vet
yep i 100% agree with rescue member thats right the paw is a very sensitive place and when it is open it can easily get infected it is very painful for the dog. poor puppy .All the best.
Try taking her to either the vet or a place like PetSmart that has groomers- they will cut it off for you which is probably the safest.
You could take him to the vet or take your dog for a LONG walk and then once he is exhausted and can't put up a fight SNIP thats you cue, but try to make it fast so you don't stress your poor little puppy out to much!! Good luck!
Happened to my dog, very painful for the dog which is why she is resisting you.
Take her to the vet to get the nail clipped off - it could get infected if you don't. May have to be bandaged, my dog's paw was.
She may resist, but you HAVE to get her to a vet soon. They know how to handle this and they'll remove the nail with the least pain possible.
This is rather painful for the dog this is why she is fighting with you not to touch it. The best advise anyone can give you is just to take her to the vet to get this clipped. It would not cost alot and they are trained to handle dogs of that size in this situation.

My dog has split his nail should I pull it out?
My dog bites his nails, yesterday hebroke it and it is split down the middle top and bottom. I dont really want to pull it out. What should I do? And please I already know I can take it to the Vet. and would like to know what others did.My dog has split his nail should I pull it out?
I don't recommend pulling it out unless it's hanging by a thread, that would be very painful. If it's only split with no swelling or other sign of infection/injury, leave it alone to heal. If it shows signs of swelling/infection go to the vet immediately and they will take care of it. There is really nothing to be done, but try to get your dog to stop chewing his nails.
Our dog does the same thing and we've just invested in having as many different flavored chews around and this seems to ease her need to chew her nails. Also, keeping them trimmed will help.My dog has split his nail should I pull it out?
You attempt to pull it, you better wear some steel armor.
A vet may be able to cut it back enough that it will grow back normally.
Can you imagine pulling your own toenail out? Geeezzzz.
If you don't want to pull it all the way out.. you can keep snipping the nail shorter until it eventually will fall out on it's own. It might be irratating your dog which causes him to keep licking it and eventually making his paw swollen and red. If you can't get the nail short enough take him to the vet and they will take care of it for you and give medication to avoid infection. This happened to my dog twice.. the first time the nail fellout on it's own, but the second time we had to take him to the vet.
Please don't pull it out!! Dogs have a vein in their nails so it will bleed ALOT and need to be cauterized if you do that (more expensive). Just leave it be and let it grow out until the split is gone. If the dog keeps irritating it and making it worse, you may need a vet to fix it. Keep an eye on it.
You can't really pull it out unless it is hanging on, it would be painful and would create an open wound. If it is not bleeding anymore, then I'd leave it alone to heal for itself. You can also clean the are then wrap it up for a little. Otherwise the Vet can give you further advice.bad makeup

How can I stop biting my nails? I've tried hot sauce in my nail polish, and it won't work. Help!?
Either self control or get a set of acrylics. ~BonHow can I stop biting my nails? I've tried hot sauce in my nail polish, and it won't work. Help!?

try putting nail polish remover on them it tastes so nasty it worked for me!
Get those fake acrylic nails - they are hard and the money you will have to pay to get them fixed will help break the habit
I'm a nail biter and I've been trying to stop for years. Self control is not the answer. Easily said by those that do not bite there nail's.
Because, I have a professional position where I make several court appearance's I keep my nails done. If I've poped a nail and my actual nail has grown I will bite it down.
I truly believe it's in nail biter's and nothing can be done it's a bad habit, but what can we do?
They sell creams and sprays to put on your nails, that would help you to stop. The website below is an example of one. All I did to find this one was type ';stop biting nails'; in Yahoo search engine.
I use to bite my nails all the time and I would even try to dip my nails in nail polish remover so I would stop biting them because they tasted bad. Think about why you bite them...
I finally stopped because I realized that I don't like my nails and when they look bad I continue to bite them and make it worse. What worked for me is I put on acrylic and they look very pretty and i think to myself that I do not want to waste my money and break them off and I like how pretty they look so eventually I leave them alone. That has helped for me and its an idea for you.
Hope it helps!
Good luck!
get yer teeth pulled...lol
No seriously, had the same problem myself years ago...just have to be really conscious of it and make the effort to stop.
It is a bad habit and we just have to break it...at least it is not addicting like smoking or something.
Every time yer hands go to yer mouth stop and put something in yer hands, sit on em or get busy with something using yer hands.
Just a habit and all habits can be broken.
Good luck...if I did it, trust me you can.
I'm 35 and still bite my nails. I find I go through phases where they look great and then something triggers me to start picking and biting--I found it to be anxiety related--not necessarily stress.
I found having nail scissors/nail file with me to clip the hang nails and jagged nails helps with stopping the biting. The minute you want to bite, get the nail file and file a little. I agree with other posters--once I get my nails to look good I don't bite for a long time.
I also bought a really nice (somewhat expensive) ring. I realized if I wanted to feel comfortable showing people the ring, my nails would have to look nice. That has helped a lot, too.
I know nail biting is a result of being nervous for some people and others bite them because they are too long. Try cutting your nails instead of biting them.
iono ..i think i like bite em in my sleep..lol..wear gloves the rest a ur life..i jus gave up on tryn to stop!
i think they sell a certain type of polish for that..

self control, all humans have it, so few use it
Self-controled. Think of something else rather than your nails
i have been trying to stop for many years and cant either i finally just gave up its just a habit we have to live with if we cant stop
Go have your nails done, 'acrylic' they last awhile, and you will not be bitting them, you can't!! - you just may break your habit...
just calm down.. stress is one of the nail biting reason.. i love to bite my nails btw
Try 'Control -It' nail biting cream. It will help you stop biting your nails.
But a rubber band on your wrist.
Everytime you have the urge to bite, snap your self.
If you are consistent, you will condition yourself to not bite, because when you do, you get snapped in the wrist with a rubber band

Does anyone know where I can buy Anti Nail Biting polish? Is it a regular thing to buy?
I sort of have a nail biting problem, and can't seem to break it but I heard that there is an anti nail biting poilsh that you put over your nails and it taste bad so you don't want to chew them. Where can I buy this and is it legit? Is it for real and is it bad for you. Do any major businesses carry such a product such as Mayballene (sp)Does anyone know where I can buy Anti Nail Biting polish? Is it a regular thing to buy?
Don't buy it unless its really necessary. I had a nail biting problem too. I broke the habit by cutting my nails whenever it gets long enough to bite.Does anyone know where I can buy Anti Nail Biting polish? Is it a regular thing to buy?
You should be able to get it at any drugstore/pharmacy. It's legitimate stuff in that it definitely tastes bad or has a LOT of pepper in it, but in my experience, they just don't work very well. In addition, the kind that have pepper in them can cause a LOT of pain if they come in contact with the eyes, nose, other mucus membranes.
I had a nail biting issues when i was 10 years old..it lasted until i was 12. I noticed that my fingernails get smaller and uglier so I decided and tell my self:';Im not gonna bite my nail anymore.'; Just be conscious of yourself, and whenever you feel biting your nail, STOP. Tell yourself to stop. That's it. It's a matter of self-control. And you can do it.
I think they have it at Target. Sally Hansen or something. It works really well! If you can't find it, get the stuff they spray on dogs to keep them from nibbling their paws. It tastes awful and stays on all day!!!!
i dont know where to get them, probably at a pharmacy or something. but i know they do exist and they work. i never bit my nails, but once my friend had some and i put it on my nails ans licked it. it was DISGUSTING. id get it if i were you, it will definately put you off biting your nails.
Lowes, aisle 5
honestly the stuff dont realy work . Best thing to do is try keeping hands busy.sorry
You can buy these products in a number of places, such as Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000YUXI0/104-3406433-9105538?v=glance%26amp;n=3760901) or even most Walgreens/CVS Pharmacys. I've used this before, and depending on the severity of the habit, you can just adjust to the taste and continue biting - but with determination (and sometimes help from a product), you can get over nail biting.
Allegedly, Avon sells a solution called ';Nail Biting Solver';. I was unable to find a link to this product online, but you may consider asking your local Avon rep.

My nails turned orange from nail polish. How long will it take for it turn back to normal?
I wear nail polish a lot and my nails started turning orange. I'm gonna stop wearing nail polish til it goes back to normal but how long will that take?My nails turned orange from nail polish. How long will it take for it turn back to normal?
I read in Cosmopolitan magazine that if you rub a lemon peel over your nails, the left over tint of nail polish goes away (for a quick fix). However, to avoid it happening again, use a clear base coat (:My nails turned orange from nail polish. How long will it take for it turn back to normal?
I actually have yellowish nails right now too - fingernails! You can imagine how embarrassing that is. :( You just have to wait for the nail to grow, sort of like a snake shedding away it's old skin. The time it takes for the nail to come in depends whether you're a fast nail grower or not. I'm not, so I have to wait about 3 weeks to a month for it to be completely gone.
This happens a lot and is a result of no base coat. Make sure to always put base coat on your nails especially with darker colors because they tend to stain nails. But there is a product called nail bleach so stop by the store and pick up a bottle and it will fix your nails no problems very simple.
Good Luck
The same thing happened to me, it took about 1 to 2 weeks to turn back to normal. what i found out is that when you use dark colors a lot they tint your nails so what i do now is start with a light color and then just get darker. hope this helps.
When they grow out, the orange will go away (it will not be in the new nail coming in). Try using a clear base-coat under your nail polish to prevent them from changing colour again.
It doesn't really fade away, mostly it takes however long it will be to grow out and be clipped.

When they grow out, the orange will go away (it will not be in the new nail coming in). Try using a clear base-coat under your nail polish to prevent them from changing colour again.
It doesn't really fade away, mostly it takes however long it will be to grow out and be clipped.
Why is it considered necessary to nail down the lid of a coffin?
Its not like the corpse is going to run away or anything! Why is it considered necessary to nail down the lid of a coffin?
I heard that the reason was to prevent the corpse escaping due to vampirism. It's an old english religious custom when burying the dead. Why is it considered necessary to nail down the lid of a coffin?
So the body doesnt fall out when being lowered into the grave.
I think also, it may be because sometimes they have to exhume the body and if the coffin wasn't seeled, there wouldn't be much of body left would there? I don't know its just a wild guess.
if the coffin falls the body will roll out. that won't be a nice sight now will it.

My nail cracked along the quick is there anything I can do to save the nail while it grows out?
I am just starting to grow my nails out and they are very fragile. I was working in the yard and my nail tore half-way right along the quick. it doesn't hurt but I don't want to clip my nail off. I tried using superglue but it doesn't work!My nail cracked along the quick is there anything I can do to save the nail while it grows out?
I thought only animals had quicks, do you mean cuticle? My nail cracked along the quick is there anything I can do to save the nail while it grows out?
I would try use several coats of clear fingernail polish. That should seal the crack in the nail until it grows out enough that you can cut that part off.

I just cut off a big chunk off my nail off. Will it be able to grow back normally?
Because i can't stand to look at it if it doesn't; its even hard to type right now.I just cut off a big chunk off my nail off. Will it be able to grow back normally?
As long as you don't damage the root, it will grow back.I just cut off a big chunk off my nail off. Will it be able to grow back normally?
Yes, has happened to me like once or twice. Takes a few weeks to months though.
I lost all of my right pinky nail once, and it grew back fine.

My box turtle has very long nails is it to cut them with nail clippers or a dog clippers?
Use fingernail clippers and cut the very tips of each nail. It does not hurt them at all.My box turtle has very long nails is it to cut them with nail clippers or a dog clippers?
No. If you are really worried about the length of the nails (I wouldn't be) let it run around on a hard surface to wear them down.

How long does it take a finger nail to regrow?
a dog bit near the cuticle and split through the nail. It's been a month and there is still a dent and it does not seem to be growing. How long does it take a finger nail to regrow?
Don't worry, when it starts growing it will grow fast, and it should start soon. Just keep proper care of yourself and a good diet.

How long does it usually take nail polish to wear off?
You know.. to the point when it starts scraping off by itself?
or something like that. How long does it usually take nail polish to wear off?
about a week, if you wash you hands alot and do ltos of work. but manicures are like 2 weeks. How long does it usually take nail polish to wear off?
A good manicure can last 2 to 3 weeks. Apply a thin coat of clear polish first, then two thin coats of color, then top with another thin coat of clear polish. Every few days apply another thin coat of clear polish. This will stretch your manicure out for a super long time.
They start to chip in about 3-5 days. I do a lot of crafts and stuff so mine start to chip within the first 3-5 like I said. But if you don't really do that much work, probably about a week or so. Hope I helped! =))

I'm concerned about an injury on my pinky finger. Towards the bottom of the nail bed it is a bit red and ?
a little bit warm when I bring my finger to my upper lip to test the warmth. When I squeeze the corner where the injury is a little bit of liquid (water?) appears along the edge of the nail. Is this something I should go to the doctor for? I'm just worried because of the risk of occurrences of Staph infections. Thanks!I'm concerned about an injury on my pinky finger. I would not be too worried.....Is is hot? swollen? or hurts( really hurts) to move? wash it with soap put some Neosporin it and keep it clean...stop picking it! It you develop a fever then call your dr.

I'm building a playhouse for my daughter....can i make the roof from plywood and nail shingles to it?
Would it be water tight..(keep the rain out) or do i need to do something else?...i want it nice so i really don't worry to much about cost.I'm building a playhouse for my daughter....can i make the roof from plywood and nail shingles to it?
If applied correctly it will work.Though at the least you should put a layer of tar paper down on top of the plywood. What is the pitch of the roof? You may need a better underlayment such as stormguard.
Also keep in mind if the roofing nails penetrate the plywood (as they should) your daughter may hit her head on them if it is not finished out inside.I'm building a playhouse for my daughter....can i make the roof from plywood and nail shingles to it?
That is virtual what a house is like. Contractors use plywood or OSB material and put shingles on it. Be careful of valleys and edges and the ridge of the roof. You will need a different shingle to make that line.
If the roof is slanted to provide rain runoff, and you use, tar paper under the shingles, it should work fine. Flat roofs collect rain, shingles will leak. It isnt too difficult, or expensive. Good luck
Sure, but don't forget the tar paper and make sure the nails are short enough that they don't go through the plywood that she could get hurt by them. Have fun. I love building.
Plywood then tar paper then shingles that's the order for them to be installed just like it was done on a house.

Is it ok to just nail ridgid insulation boards to exterior of weatherboard house?
I'm looking to insulate from the exterior and was wondering if there is any pointers i should know about this project.
Like, will there be moisture issues, should i vapour barrier before i install siding. Is it ok to just nail ridgid insulation boards to exterior of weatherboard house?
Yes, you can apply rigid insulation to the exterior of a house, but you will need to apply a new exterior siding over the insulation to protect it.
A vapor barrier should be applied if one isn't already under the old siding.

Is it good to keep nail polish in the fridge?
I have a clear nail polish that is getting thick and has air bubbles. Would it be good to put it in the fridge for a while? Is it good to keep nail polish in the fridge?
No, I would suggest buying a new bottle. It sounds as though its time for one.Is it good to keep nail polish in the fridge?
No, that's not going to do anything but harden it even more. Just add a bit of nail polish remover to it. Just A BIT! It'll help thin it out.
i keep all my polish in the fridge. it sounds weird, but none (except one--it was just a bad brand) are messed up. hope i helped!!
I heard it will make ruined (like that) nail polish better and more use-able and it does.
No, it'll harden more.. Just keep it at room temp. It's not gonna get any better, the fridge'll make it worse so yeah..
No, I would not do that.

Is it okay to use nail polish remover on your face?
I'm using rigid collodion on my face, and I didn't have the sense to buy remover, and some of it wouldn't peel off. Is it safe to use nail polish remover to get it off? Would that cause any damage to my skin?Is it okay to use nail polish remover on your face?
What ever you do DONT. Nail polish remover is very acidic to take the polish off nails. If you used it on your skin it would:
a) probably sting
b) dry your skin out a lot
c) give you a rash, or encourage spots.
Use warm water if you don't have any make up remover, or buy some face wipes if your in a rush. Is it okay to use nail polish remover on your face?
I had a friend over a few years ago and when we were taking our makeup off before we we're about to go to sleep and I was also taking off my finger nail polish. We had to cotton balls on the counter, one full of finger nail polish remover and the other had toner from face wash on it. My friend had a cold and didn't smell that the cotton ball she was about to use on her face wasn't toner and was actually fingernail polish remover. she wiped it on part of her eyebrow are before i could stop her. An hour later i looked at her face and her eye brow was missing%26amp;her face was red. so i suggest DO NOT USE FINGER NAIL POLISH REMOVER ON YOUR FACE!!!!!
nail polish remover is either carbon tetrachloride or touluene. Both carcinogenic, both toxic. Both will be adsorbed through the skin in varying amounts depending on your pore status and level of oily coat on your skin. Depending on how much you use - see ya at the hospital - now - or later.
doesnt sound to safe.

Is it safe to wear nail polish if you are pregnant?
I once heard a news report that the chemicals in the nail polish can be harmful to the baby? Has anyone else heard this?Is it safe to wear nail polish if you are pregnant?
No, it is fine to wear nail polish. Is it safe to wear nail polish if you are pregnant?
hun it is safe to use for god sakes they say cell phone give you cancer(LOL) .but nail polish is safe
It is fine to polish your nails while pregnant. It no more of a danger than if you were not pregnant. If you were planning to sniff the fumes then you may have a problem.
That could be true if you inhale the fumes without proper ventilation...
No, I've never heard of that one. I've been pregnant few times and that one I never heard of. But I wouldn't be trying to sniff the bottle neither. Just paint your nails, put up the bottle and the smell usually goes away quickly after drying any how.
Totally not true as long as you're using it for its intended purpose. Meaning, you aren't eating it or something.
Nail polish is safe enough, just don't drink it (lol).
its deff safe. i used nail polish throught out my entire pregnacny but i wouldnt go get my nails done .. (the fake acrylic nails put on) and just becareful if the smells make you sick or dizzy stop. But, just make sure you are in a well ventelated place. no worries. my baby is fine.
I had my nails done up until 2 months before I delivered, my son is fine. :) You just don't want to breathe in the chemicals or nail polish too much.
Yes it is safe and my OB GYN told me that I could even go to the salon and get them done if I chose.
Polish outside, but they do not suggest going to a salon or a nail place to get their nails done, esp. acrylics.
It is safe to wear nail polish, dye your hair , get waxed or do anything you would usually do.
never heard of such a thing. I was always doing my nails when I was preggers. I would avoid the salon but do it yourself at home/ If you are bothered by the smell , open a window and turn on a fan. Happy painting.Have fun
It is fine to use Nail Polish. Just one thing you have to watch out for is the fumes. If they feel to strong to handle, then stop, because your sense of smell is better when you are pregnant. But, most polishes aren't that strong. You might want to avoid a nail salon, because the smell in there might make you sick.
Just dont sit there and huff the fumes. Have a fan going while you are painting them.

When you have polish on for so long it takes the oxygen from your nail turning it yellow. Keep polish off for a while and they will turn white again.
Use lemon juice on them, soak your nails in it for a whilst it should pollish right off
wait it out
get a manicure
OR
use lemon juice
use a clear coat first, next time. they might have to grow out.bad makeup

Is a pedicure done better when the nail tech does it with or without gloves on?
You would think that with all the feet and nails a tech works with that they would use gloves but some do and some don't. It also depends on the shops policies. Using gloves would help in lessening the spread of fungus and disease, but it is really the preference of the nail tech.Is a pedicure done better when the nail tech does it with or without gloves on?

My friend got the terrapin off another friend who ';painted'; on one if it's legs with nail polish,a bit is smeared on its face amd shell. Is this harming it? The terrapin is roughly the size of a coin. How can I remove the nail polish without hurting it?A terrapin my friend gave me has nail polish on it,how to remove?
Acetone-based nail-polish remover could cause damage to the turtle's respiratory system. The oily remover might be safer. If the polish isn't too extensive, the safest thing to do is to wait for it to wear off or be shed.A terrapin my friend gave me has nail polish on it,how to remove?
Nail Polish Remover wouldn't really hurt.
Just wait for the shedding to remove it.

Go to a manicurist. They know how to treat it.
It may actually be a fungal infection. Show it to your doctor and get treatment for it before you transmit it to others.
its prob not a callus its a wart. Try the various wart products available, but its going to be difficult since it extends under the nail.
You can perhaps try these easy tips: http://living.oneindia.in/beauty/manicur鈥?/a>

Warts are a sign of the devil. Have you been touching anything evil -- your genitils, coloreds, Germans, etc. -- that could cause a manifestation of Lucifer?
Best move to the nearest church and soak the offending hand in Holy Water.

Can my lighter blow up if i paint it with nail polish?
ok well my lighter is so dull! so i was going to paint it with nail polish because marker will wipe off on my fingers? Can my lighter blow up if i paint it with nail polish?
Once many materials dry, they are not flammable, BUT nail polish is an exception to the rule. It stays plastic, which is flammable.
If you're bored with your lighter, then 1: Get a new lighter, or 2: Find a swappable case for it.Can my lighter blow up if i paint it with nail polish?
NO it will not. Many paints are noted as flammable but this is not so once the material has dried completely. you are perfectly safe to do this. ( do your nails ever catch on fire?)
probally YES IT WILL
and just buy another lighter.
And with the dull old one get ur camera throw it in the street really hard far away from your self and it will brake and explode its really cool. :D

If i put clear top coat in some nail polish will it make it shiney?
I have a nail polish that i bought the other day and i tried it out today and it was really dull. there was no shine at all. so i was wondering if i put some top coat into the polish will it make it shiney or should i just forget it?If i put clear top coat in some nail polish will it make it shiney?
Yes it will make it shiney, and it will make it last longer too.If i put clear top coat in some nail polish will it make it shiney?
Firstly make sure that your colour is blocked - not patchy or thin, be generous with the application! then after that is properly dried (not tacky) apply one coat of clear nail polish and it should give a wet and shiny look. I would avoid mixing the two directly, something could go wrong then I'd cry %26gt;_%26lt; Hope this helps!
it will be kinda shiny dont get ur hopes up though i tried the same thing and i was dissapointed, however u can get things at your local drugstore or target that is called top-shine and it will make the nails shiny O.P.I has a really great one that i use now! so good luck :)
No not really, because a basic nail polish already has a ton of sticky, thick ingredients in it, and adding a clear coat to it would make it clump in to a sticky mess on your nail. Don't try it. Its messy.
I think just to avoid any mishaps, just put the top coat on after you paint your nails and after they've dried. This will make it shiney, last longer/keep the brill and keep it from flaking.
a clear nail polish will for sure do the trick!
you can even buy special ones called base coats that are ment just for that purpose!
hope that helped
yes ppl normaly use apolish called top coat
nahh just wait and do it after.. takes long but its worth it.. thats what i do.
yea if u use a shine topper.
most do make it shiny. it can't hurt to try.
yes it should make it shiny
eh i dont think that would work that great. why dont you just paint your nails with that color, then put top coat over it?
No it would get sticky not shiny best not to do it I think. :)
The best one's do. I doesn't hurt to try.
just put it on top
probs

How long does it take a finger nail to regrow?
3 wks ago my dog jumped to grab the frisbee I held and accidently bit my middle finger nail right at the quick. At the time it seemed like a`small little slice(1/8th inch) through the nail. It grew back together but left a little divot and the rest of the nail is now sort of 'scalling'. It doesn't hurt but looks pretty bad--will it ever return to normal? How long does it take a finger nail to regrow?
Oh yeah its nothing seriously haha. It'll go back to normal in a couple of weeks cuz ur skin constantly grows in a sense.

How long would it take for my nail injury to heal?
I was playing basketball and I hit my thumb pretty hard.
I have dried blood inside my nail How long will it take for it to stop hurting and heal? How long would it take for my nail injury to heal?
I slammed my thumb in a door and had the same issue. If you hit your nail hard enough, the nail will sort of disconnect from the tissue, and the nail will fall off. After that, it should grow back. It took mine a few months to grow back...probably around six months. It was a long process.
It'll be sore for a while. How long would it take for my nail injury to heal?
Parts of the body heal at different rates, a thumb may take awhile if there is blood under the Nail as it needs to grow out.

Is there a nail base coat that keeps your color on as long as it stays on acrylic nails?
I rarely have to polish my acrylics, and have tried OPI's base coat for keeping polish on longer and it hardly worked at all. Do you know of a product that can do this?
Thanks! Is there a nail base coat that keeps your color on as long as it stays on acrylic nails?
Thats an interesting question.

You could use some small angle brackets with screw holes.

I have a 19x 37 poster I had framed. It has a wire in the back. Can I hang it from a nail?
I have plaster walls. Do I need to use a hook? I also live in LA and in case of an dearthquake do not want it to fall on my head. Please advise. Thanks.I have a 19x 37 poster I had framed. It has a wire in the back. Can I hang it from a nail?
Sure you can use a nail - just be sure the nail head is not so small and the poster backing not so thin and the picture not so heavy that the head of the nail is forced thru the picture backing.
A better option is using 2 nails, placed horizontally, about 1/4 the width of the frame in from each side. This makes it easier to keep the poster level - the wire is ran over both nails so the picture doesn't go sideways every time it gets bumped (it is Ok if the nails aren't perfectly horizontal from each other - you get some adjustment in the wire).
it also looks nicer. The top of the picture hangs out slightly more than the bottom, angeling it toward the viewer.
Just make sure you drive the nails in at an angle.
You may still want to consider buying hooks. they are pretty cheep. An alternative is to make larger holes with a long nail, then making hooks out of a heavy coat hanger. if you are concerneed about it falling, hooks are the way to go. Hooks will also be easier on the plaster on the walls.I have a 19x 37 poster I had framed. It has a wire in the back. Can I hang it from a nail?
A nail is fine
only nail if you know there is a stud directly behind it. If you know it is hollow than drill a hole and place a plastic anchor or use a toggle bolt. There is also a product, if you do not have a drill, where you can screw in a plastic anchor into the wall and then screw in a screw into the anchor. These will hold the poster frame. Go by Home Depot or Lowes and they will help you.
Most poster frames ane not heavy at all. If your framed poster weighs less than 10 lbs, there shouldn't be a problem.
When putting the nail into a plaster wall, first put a small X on the wall with masking tape. The tape will prevent the wall from cracking. Then put your nail in at an angle. To help prevent the frame from moving, put little plastic ';bumpers'; on the bottom corners of the back of the frame. These will grip the wall and keep the frame in place.
drill a small pilot hole a bit smaller the the nail you will use, then you can buy a package of picture hanging nails that has a looped end and the nail goes in at an angle for more support
For a picture that large, use a toggle bolt. It will expand behind the wall and reinforce it. A nail may come lose and drop it on your head, not to mention the rip in the plaster. If you wish to move the picture later, simply knock the togglebolt through, and patch the hole. These are available in the hardware area of walmart very cheaply.
use screws or hook, but be sure that the screws or hook can take the weight of the picture, adjust the size of the screws to the size of the pic. dont use nails coz it would get easily take off from the wall, or it can also break ur wall.
hope this help.
I think (personal opinion) that you can use a nail. But be sure the nail is in a wall stud, so it will provide more support.
Use #6 screws and plastic anchors I would use 2 of them just be careful when you drill into the plaster that you don't make a hole larger then you need.
yes you can but, make sure the wire is thick enough and the nail on the wall is big enough to hold the picture.
See no reason why not. Just make sure the nail is in a stud.bad makeup

Is it true that most nail polish and nail polish removers are toxic or carcinogenic?
If so, what are the alternatives for someone who uses nail polish on a daily basis? Thanks. Is it true that most nail polish and nail polish removers are toxic or carcinogenic?
No, they're not. Most nail polishes (OPI, Rimmel, China Glaze, Essie, L'Oreal, NYC, Sally Hansen, etc) are free of the chemicals (toluene, formaldehyde, and dibutyl phthlate) that have been associated with cancer. However, even your nail polish contains those chemicals the chances of getting cancer from them is rare. You would have to literally huff your nail polish (if it has those chemicals I've listed) in a non ventilated room repeatedly to be at risk. As long as you're apply your nail polish in a well-ventilated room you should have no problems.
However, I like to play it safe so I opt for polishes free of the chemicals.

I have a long haired chihuahua. He seems to have caught his nail, it is falling off now, what should I do?
Unless it seems to be infected or he is in pain, just clean it with peroxide and put Neosporin on it for several days. My dog had this happen twice and both times it healed up on it's own without seeing the vet.I have a long haired chihuahua. He seems to have caught his nail, it is falling off now, what should I do?
I would take it to the vet for trimming. If you cut it wrong or the dog jumps while you are cutting you could cause a bleeder and/or cut it too short...both of which are painful. If you keep your dogs nails trimmed regularly snags can mostly be avoided.I have a long haired chihuahua. He seems to have caught his nail, it is falling off now, what should I do?
get quick stop from a pet store before trying anything yourself if it starts to bleed it is very hard to stop
trim it carefully
Clip it all the way off so it doesn't catch and rip any more. Can use a regular nail clipper or dog clipper if you have it. If it bleeds can use flour or powdered sugar on a Qtip. Press it firmly onto the end of the nail bed. Then can leave alone for a while so it doesn't start to bleed again. Just like the other answer says clean with peroxide and use antibiotic ointment on it. Should heal fine. Maybe clip all the nails so this can't happen again.
Take him to the vet to have it clipped off. Immediately. Don't dink around on the computer waiting for a second opinion.
cut it if its hanging and treat it like you would your own. do you go to the Doctor for a hangnail? just put some neosborne on any exposed quick. It will be tender as the nail grows back, so try to keep the pup out of the grass for a while.

Is it appropriate to wear nail polish as a pharmacy technician?
Any kind of pharmacy technician (nuclear, hopsital, retail, mail order, etc). Is clear nail polish even allowed if you're compounding? I know fake nails would not be appropriate but what about nail polish?
My nails get really brittle and start to crack before they can even get as long as I want them to. Lotion just isn't cutting it now.Is it appropriate to wear nail polish as a pharmacy technician?
I don't see why clear nail polish would be a problem. No one could see it anyway! Is it appropriate to wear nail polish as a pharmacy technician?
as long as its like dry and doesnt chip into the medicine or anything,, i dont see what would be wrong with that.

Is it possible to get nail polish out of a wool pile rug?
I accidently spilt clear polish...not alot.....it didn't seen to be dirty but when I cleaned the rug there seems to be a dark streak where I dropped the polish....how do I get it out?Is it possible to get nail polish out of a wool pile rug?
Maybe. Most fingernail polish uses acetone (the main ingredient of fingernail polish remover) as a solvent. You can buy acetone cheaply at hardware dealers and paint stores. It needs to be tested to make sure the rug is colorfast and it needs to be used in a well-ventilated area (fumes are toxic). Use a Q-tip to apply the acetone to the spill and blot quickly with a very absorbent paper towel. Acetone dissolves a lot of things, including many dyes. It also extracts moisture and oils from skin. Be careful with it.Is it possible to get nail polish out of a wool pile rug?
The Professor is correct. be extremely care to ensure the carpet is color fast...Good luck
If you try polish remover or what is suggested above, I'd suggest testing it on a small area of the rug that's not visible (like the underside) so that if it takes the color out of the rug, you can try something else.
Nail polish
Sponge with polish remover or banana oil. Wash. If stain remains, sponge with denatured alcohol to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Wash again. Do - not use polish remover on acetate or triacetate fabrics.
Good Luck !

Is it possible to fix nail holes in wall without painting entire wall?
Im moving out of my apartment and I need to fix a few little holes in the wall. I really dont want to have to paint the entire wall just the part that needs to be patched? Is that possible and if so what would the best technique be?Is it possible to fix nail holes in wall without painting entire wall?
Fixing nail holes is easy, using a small can of Spackle, Any Hardware store carries it.
Where the problem arises is, what color the walls are. Spackle and most other fixes, are usually white. So they stand out, on a colored wall, even those usual apartment, beige walls. If you can, get a small can of the same color paint, and mix it with the spackle, and use that to fix your holes. Or just spackle, let dry, sand, then touch up that area.
How well it hides the nails, will depend on how old the previous paint was and how faded or dirty it is. You may fix the holes up great, but if the colors don't match, they may show up, against the old paint.
But it's worth a try at least. Maybe a shade darker, would work.Is it possible to fix nail holes in wall without painting entire wall?
Any big hardware store will be able to color match some paint for you as well. If it were me, I'd get a little drywall putty, a sheet of sand paper (fine grit) and get the smallest can of paint that matches the color. Apply the putty, scrape it flush with a plastic putty knife (plastic won't scratch the existing paint like metal would). Let it dry until it's hard, probably 24 hours or more. Sand it smooth, paint it.
After the paint dries it will blend in nicely.
Buy a small tub of Spackling compound at your local hardware store or at wal mart, kmart, any of these stores have it. It's so easy to use, just use a putty knife or even your finger to fill the small hole, (even works on large holes) let it dry and wipe off with a wet sponge or wet paper towel. It only costs about $4.00 for a small tub.
you can try filling the holes with white toothpaste, or even wet toilet paper.
A cheap and albeit trashy way of doing it is using white toothpaste and just filling in the little holes.
Wall putty or in a tight spot you can use tooth paste, seen it done
you put ummmmmmm..... let me think...... wall putty i think....bad makeup

Is it bad to wear nail polish all the time?
I have a fetish with nail polish and i always wear it. But i worry if its bad for nails that there's always a coat on them. My nails are strong and they don't brittle. Is it bad to wear nail polish all the time?
Hello XTC 666, I'm a stylist! It's not bad at all to wear nail polish all of the time. It's kind of good. You always have a finished look and it's a good way to keep your fingers away from your face. To keep them from staining use base coat and to keep your color from chipping use top coat. I hope this helped and feel free to write back!Is it bad to wear nail polish all the time?
Yes, because then your nails don't get enough oxygen and can turn yellow. But soaking them in grapefruit juice can help reduce the yellow color.
Believe it or not it makes your nails stronger to have nail polish on them...but it looks so tacky if there chipped or cracked/wearing off!
Hope this helped

It will stain your nails yellow, unless you have artificial nails.
it might stain your real nails.

How long would it take a junior nail technican 2 do acrylic nails?
Getting them done on tuesday and just wondering how long its likely to take as im in work and will need to let them know in advance if im gonna be lateHow long would it take a junior nail technican 2 do acrylic nails?
Hi there
To be honest it totally depends upon the Junior. Sometimes you are only classed as a junior because you have a Senior Tech there already. The junior may have been doing nail enhancements for a month or a year and even if they have been doing them for a year, they may still not be up to speed depending on how many clients they have. Typically though, you are best off allowing around an hour and a half to two hours.
Also, I'm not sure what salon (or Tech) you will be going to, but if they use an electric file make sure they don't go anywhere near your natural nail with it. They shouldn't have to 'rough up' your nail plate either if they are using a quality system, they should only have to remove the shine from your nails gently using a fine grit hand file.
Hope this helps and enjoy your nails :)

Is it ok to wear nail vanish on short finger nails and really, really short toe nails?
Also do finger and toe nail colours need to match?
What sort of patterns would look good on short nails. Is it ok to wear nail vanish on short finger nails and really, really short toe nails?
I actually usually prefer the look of shorter polished fingernails - I think you can wear any color on them without it looking over-the-top. I don't think they need to match toes, but I usually try to keep the two different colors either in the same family (i.e. pink and rose) or two very different colors that work together (i.e. pink and blue).
I'm not sure what you mean by really really short toe nails, except that I don't care for the trend towards longish ones. I just trim and file mine to a comfortable length, close to or at the end of my toe.Is it ok to wear nail vanish on short finger nails and really, really short toe nails?
1] yes, as long as they are neat
2] no,but probably shouldn't clash - I usually wear a bright [ orange, raspberry ] on my toes, with a lighter shade of same [ peach, pink ] on fingernails.
3] how about stripes - lengthwise or diagonal, straight or wavy - to make nails look longer?
Sure, why not!?
Matching is really up to you. For me, it has to coordinate but some people don't care about that.
Personally, I wouldn't do art or patterns on short nails. I don't think it looks good.
Yup it's okay ..
No they dont really need to match ..
idn about patterns .. but dark nail polish ..
black .. dark blue ect.
looks really good on short nails .
goodluck :)

No they dont really need to match ..
idn about patterns .. but dark nail polish ..
black .. dark blue ect.
looks really good on short nails .
goodluck :)
Is it dangerous to sniff nail polish for too long?

I pulled off my acrylic nail and half of it was discolored green. Could this be a fungus?
I pulled off my acrylic nail and half of it was discolored green and brown. Does this mean that it may be a fungus? I have never seen anything like this.I pulled off my acrylic nail and half of it was discolored green. Could this be a fungus?
Yes, I can almost promise you that it is.
Any nail salon can help you out by applying a coat of fungicide. You can also find this at your local beauty supply store. It will paint on like polish.
In most cases, you can apply a coat of the fungicide to kill the fungus, and then buff the nail, to make the discoloration go away. FYI, when you buff it, you'll want to use a buffer that you can throw away. Otherwise, the fungus might stick to the buffer, and you'd contaminate other nails by using it.

My 1 yr old has an infection on his thumb nail, it looks like his nail is going to fall off, what can i do?
The nail looks very weak, like when you a bath for a long time and your skin gets wrinked, except its his nail. He doesn't complain of it hurting. It just seems to be getting worst. What can I soak his finger in? or put on it?My 1 yr old has an infection on his thumb nail, it looks like his nail is going to fall off, what can i do?
Honestly, I would take him to his pediatrician first thing Monday morning. Weakening of the nail to the effect you are describing can be a symptom of psoriasis, vitamin deficiency, or connective tissue disease. I pray that it's nothing even remotely like that, but the chances are too good that it IS for you to risk waiting.
Best of luck.My 1 yr old has an infection on his thumb nail, it looks like his nail is going to fall off, what can i do?
I went through something like this with my 2 yr old. Until I got him to a doctor I soaked his nail in warm water with some table salt in it... Don't cover it the air will help.
Good Luck with it....

How long does it take for my nail to grow back?
I have to get my nail removed due to subugual hematoma, so I was wondering how long it would take for my nailbed to develop back into a regular nail??? Please and thank you!How long does it take for my nail to grow back?
I had one of my fingernails ripped off in an accident a few years ago. If I remember correctly, it took about 2 and a half months for it to grow all the way back. How long does it take for my nail to grow back?
My boyfriend pinched his nail in a door and it took roughly 4-5 months for it to grow fully out and start to look like a fresh nail. It took an extra 2 months after that for it to look healthy.
I would say about 6-8 months for it to grow back. ^_^ Good luck!

There is a like fossilized micro crack on my index and every time my nail grows out it splits what can I use?
the hair-thin crack hits the halfway point between nail and cubicle. This thing is like preserved in my nail and it won't go away no matter how careful I am and I need it for guitar. Can someone help me out? There is a like fossilized micro crack on my index and every time my nail grows out it splits what can I use?
Start taking vitamin E for nails and use nail hardener. Take a multipurpose vitamin -your body is lacking or deficient in something-so go see a doctor. You could use a finger bandage but you run the danger of getting bacteria in the crack. Use moisturizing lotion. This is a symptom of prolonged contact with water. You are not using fingernail polish remover more than 2X per month, are you? The fingers can diagnose illness. Make sure you've been tested for diabetes.

Is this normal? It was a new nail, and she is up to date on her tetnus. It went in almost all the way on the side of her foot.My 9 year old daughter stepped on a nail yesterday and now it is red and swollen around the sight?
you need to watch for infection and also soak it in warm salt water a few times a day.See your MD if you see streaks or signs of infection. My 9 year old daughter stepped on a nail yesterday and now it is red and swollen around the sight?
Please take the child to the hospital now. She has an infection and could get blood poisoning.
You need to take her to see the doctor -- sounds like it is infected. He'll be able to tell once he sees her and then will properly treat it.
Yes it's normal, she put a nail through her foot. I feel so bad for her.
Soak it in warm water with epsom salt and put some drawing salve on it over night. If it still looks bad in the AM, off to the doctor with her.
Seriously? You've been a parent for 9 years and don't know when to take your child to a doctor? Sounds infected, but I'm not a doc-- get her to the doctor. If you are concerned enough to go online, you might want to take that as a cue to head to the local hospital instead.
I would get her to the Doc asap.
I stepped on a needle when I was 15 and with in 2 days I had an infection, and i was up to date also.
It could be just irritated, or infected. The best way to see if its infected is to look around the site and see if there is red line running from it.
It's likely infected. I recommend you have a doctor look at it, ASAP.

Is it possible to get nail polish out of carpet after it dried?
I am such a dork! I split a bottle of hot pink nail polish next to my bed, and did not notice. So now its all dry and hard and I don't know if a carpet shampooer will do the trick. Does anyone know of anything I can use to get the nail polish out of my carpet?
Thanks! Is it possible to get nail polish out of carpet after it dried?
Here is a blog on exactly how to do it: It works! Check it out... step by step instructions... and YES I agree with the others please spot check it first, and if you have white carpets make sure to use a clear remover, nothing with pink or blue tinits where that could damage it even more!

Try nail polish remover, in an inconspicuous spot first, to make sure it don't lift the rug color out, then try on the spill, get a clean old rag, to blot. If that doesn't work, try acetone, same instructions.
Good Luck
she's right about he nail polish remover. if your spot test comes ok then use a lot on the stain, or you'll just end up spreading it around.

I don't know if I need to see a doctor or what but it hurts anytime it touches anything. Help!I caught my acrylic nail on something and it pulled it back so now it's loose. How should I care for it?
Go to the nail place. They can give to these drops to stop the infection. This same thing happened to my sister.
Doesn't it suck we have to suffer so much to have beautiful nails? lolI caught my acrylic nail on something and it pulled it back so now it's loose. How should I care for it?
oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 you may have to cut off your finger. or maybe you could go to the doctor or put a band aid? but why do that when you have a reason to cut off your finger?

dont you have a friends that can take you instead..? go to the vet and ask or call... they'll porbably give advice or some kind of medicine
Hi, do you have any bagbalm? if yes
put that on, hopefully it has stoped bleeding
if not then needs stitches, dogs can bleed
to death from their nails when cut to short.
they bleed to death anyway keep bagbalm
on it your dog will want to lick it off.
good luck.
Flour can be used to help clot the blood.
He isn't walking right now because it hurts him and he wants to keep weight off the foot for right now.
And they wouldn't charge $500 for something that small.
You can still call the vet's office for free and ask them what they recommend you do.
That is bad. They make products to sodder (like close the wound, if you will) the nails. This wil block the bleeding, also, call your vet. It can get dangerouse because there are veins in the nails, and your dog my bleed out! I hope you dog gets better!
There is a product in pet stores (petco or petsmart) called Kwik Stop and I'm guessing it's under 20 bucks. It's for bleeding from a cut around the nail area.
your dog nail well grow back but got to the doter to see if it might be effed
Gee a mean daddy, won't take the dog to the vet. How many times has this happened? Hope nothing serious happens to the dog one day. You should call the vet about our lazy dog and ask him what you should do.

Hi, what do you called the building material where it has a nail and a flat square stand, it use to hold the i?
Well, being a former home-builder, I believe that I can answer this for you. What you are describing is actually called a ';simplex'; nail. It is used to hold insulation sheathing on the outside walls of a house . It is used mainly to prevent the insulation sheathing from pulling loose, especially under windy conditions.
There are actually different types of simplex nails. You have one type of a simplex nail with a ';plastic'; head which does basically the same thing. I've used the plastic simplex nails to attach felt paper (black rolled roofing that serves as an underlayment for shingles). With the bigger flat or cupped head, you can be assured that the felt paper or insulation sheathing will definitely be able to stand up to windy conditions much better than just a standard roofing nail would hold.
I hope this helps!

Are you talking plastic cap nails? They are a nail and around the head is the plastic circle or can be square. They use them to hold on insulation board and for shingling sometimes.

How do i get a splinter out of my finger and its right beside the nail and it hurts so bad?
Oh, OUCH!
Soak your finger in warm water to loosen the splinter and soften the skin. It will often come out on its own. If not, you can gently work it out with a sterilized needle.
All the best. How do i get a splinter out of my finger and its right beside the nail and it hurts so bad?
Wash your hands with soap and water. Doesn't have to be antibacterial, moving water does a lot to physically knock germs off the skin. Try soaking your finger in some warm water to soften up the skin. Then pull it out with tweezers and/or a needle. Disinfect the tools with rubbing alcohol first if possible . Just washing them with soap and hot water will help a a lot.
If it's next to the nail it will probably bleed. If it bleeds let it bleed for a little while to help clean it. Again wash with soap and water. How do i get a splinter out of my finger and its right beside the nail and it hurts so bad?

Nylon, Olefin, Polyester, Rope, Spandex
Scrape the excess. Test acetone on an inconspicuous place. If fiber color doesn't change, flush acetone through the stain to an absorbent pad. When no more stain is being removed, change pads and flush well with dry-cleaning solvent. Allow to dry thoroughly.
Good luck!

should i buy opi nail varnish? is it good or just good marketing?
Is it worth the money?
And how long does it last?Should i buy opi nail varnish? is it good or just good marketing?
Hi,
yes OPI products are good products and their nail polish is worth the money. Just make sure that you use a base coat %26amp; a top coat as you should with any nail polish. The base coat provides a good base as well as protects the nail from staining and the top coat adds extra sheen whilst providing protection from chipping.Should i buy opi nail varnish? is it good or just good marketing?
I never use anything else on my nails, opi is great it stays on for upto 3 weeks with a top coat and doesn't shrink away from the edge of the nail.
I know it may seem a bit pricy but it is good stuff and it doesnt go gloopy in the bottle either.
I love O.P.I. products. GO BUY IT!
I have tried EVERY brand and I like OPI the best. They have really modern colors and seem to last longer...about 3 weeks. They don't chip easily and tend not to stain your nails.
its alrite, the polish doesnt last that long, its good m arketing, get essie products, they last long and i love the colors,
http://www.essie.com/products/ they have even more colors at the drugstres get them
OPI has the best nail polish that I have tried. They have a nice range of colours and they last forever. Best brush of any nail polish that I have tried as well.
I use it and i like it. makes my nails strong and repairs split nails
I really like OPI and I think it's worth the money. The polish is more glossy than cheaper drugstore brands and it lasts much longer (almost 3 weeks). I havent tried the Essie brand yet but I'm going to try it and see how I like it.
YES DEFINATELY! I have OPI polish and stuff and I can wear it for a max of 2 1/2 weeks! Its a great brand of polish!

How do I make my nail polish last longer? It always chips ?
I do a base coat, the colour (two thin coats) and then a top coat, but it is always chipped by the end of the day.
I would love to have nicely painted nails, but I just can't be bothered because it just ends up looking chipped and scrappy by the end of the day.How do I make my nail polish last longer? It always chips ?
Hi
you can apply a base coat first , 2 colour of polish and 2 polish or top coat. Make sure you also get the top coat on the tip to seal it as well.
Hope this helps!

Chip skip by OPI it works great i apply that then a ridge filling base coat then two coats of polish a top coat followed by a rapid dry spray by opi at well.
Chip skip: http://opi.com/trPremium.asp#3
rapid dry: http://opi.com/trQuikDry.asp
( I use both the pray n the lacquer drops but not at once, just which ever one i feel like using that day.)
Two suggestions -
1. try a different brand for all the nail polish you are using (base coat, color, and top coat);
2. when you wash things (such as dishes), make sure you wear gloves to protect your nails.
As a manicurist, I have found that expensive polish last longer. A great top coat is Wet and Wild #401A. Try that. It is what I use for all my Manicures.
Maybe its the type of nail polish maybe you should try a new one and over the two bases use a clear nailpolish and go over also
Chanel nail polish seems to stay on foreverrrr.
try a different brand or a thicker coat also try putting on a top coat a least once a day
you should buy nail polished that has chipp remover or chipp protector
there is nail polish that is labelled Long wear..maybe u should try it :)

I have a briused looking big toe nail, but it;s not painful any ideas on what i should do about it?
i noticed it a few months ago, dont look like it's planning on returning to normalI have a briused looking big toe nail, but it;s not painful any ideas on what i should do about it?
your toenail will probably 'grow out' and then grow back. nothin really to worry about though, can't stay bruised foreverI have a briused looking big toe nail, but it;s not painful any ideas on what i should do about it?
Go to the doc if you are worried. I get a bruised toe nail quite a lot from walking. I do a lot of walking and sometimes I don't even notice any pain, but my toe nail does!
Are you diabetic? I know that diabetics don't feel much in their feet. Maybe you should talk to a doctor specifically about this.
a bruised toe nail is serious sh*t, i think u should hack your foot off just to be on the safe side
if it bothers you and it probably will grow out, why not paint them, i love painted toenails, i paint my boyfriends toe nails and we think they look great and it would cover up the briused nail, you'd forget it was there
you probably got hurt and didnt realise it. a new nail will grow and the one thats bruised will fall out..

How does a nail grow?Does it grow from the top or from the bottom?
from the topHow does a nail grow?Does it grow from the top or from the bottom?
This means you never paint yr nails before ;)How does a nail grow?Does it grow from the top or from the bottom?
it grows from the bottom . if you put nailpolish or fake nails on , there will be a little gap between the color or the fake nail where your nail grows (=
it grows from the bottom....i no so coz when u go to vote they put a little dot of ink at the bottom of your nail...an aftr a month ar a little more..it keeps movin up..till it reaches the top and u cut it off!
It grows from under the cuticle.
Bottom.......
The nail grows from the nail bed with is at the bottom.
from the bottom coz when u put fake nails on ur nail grows n there is a gap at the bottom of ur nail.
Your nail grows from the bottom. I just recently cut my finger and part of my fingernail while trying to cut a piece of fruit and I waited until my fingernail grew out a little and then I would trim it down and wait a little more and trim it down again. Eventually I got it to where my fingernail didn't have a cut in it anymore. It sucked. I was afraid it was going to snag on something and rip a part of my nail off.
It grows from the bottom. That little lighter half-moon shaped part at the base of the nail is the part that grows.

My 2yr old got in to my nail polish. It got all over her hands, how do I remove it without harming her skin?
(I really don't want to use polish remover)My 2yr old got in to my nail polish. It got all over her hands, how do I remove it without harming her skin?
wait a couple of days to let it remove naturally babies skin is very sensitive. don't let her put her hands in her mouth (use gloves?) i dont really know- maybe you shouold contact your pediatrician because nailpolish is poisonous if put in her mouth.
call your drMy 2yr old got in to my nail polish. It got all over her hands, how do I remove it without harming her skin?
LOL the things toddlers do that is so cute! I agree with everyone else use baby oil and if that does not work use finger nail polish and Oh do not forget to take a picture to put in baby book! You might not think funny now but you will in a couple of months!!
Wash her hands with warm water and soap then rub them with baby oil. Since skin is porous it should rub right off after the skin absorbs the oil.
I would suggest not using polish remover at all since it can be extreamly irritating to the skin
Yep i agree baby oil if the nail polish hasn't been on the skin for to long otherwise sorry you may have to use nail polish remover if you do end up needed to use nail polish remover on her make sure you use a moisturizer after woods
nail polish remover (NON ACID-TONE)
I would try olive oil because it is natural. Then I would very seriously tell your two-year-old that she will never get into your nail polish again!
My 2 1/2 year old did the same thing, and more than once. I used non-acetone nail polish remover. Then washed with warm water and mild soap with no problems. Keeping it out of reach works best for me, but my twelve year old forgets to put it away sometimes.
Good Luck
