What's the best way to apply nail polish so that it lasts?

What brands are best? How long does polish last in the bottle? I've had trouble with polish that looks okay when I apply it, but after a few hours it has small bumps in it.

What's the best way to apply nail polish so that it lasts?
OPI lasts about 2 weeks before it chips (pretty long in comparison to other brands)

In order to make nail polish last, there's 4 steps:

1) Wash your hands with antibacterial soap so that there's no oil or bacteria that could make your nail chip quicker.

2) Apply a base coat on all your nails and wait ~1 min for it to dry. This creates a nice, smooth base for your nail color to go on; and it prevents the color to stain your nails yellow.

3) Apply your nail color (if it's opaque, usually 1 coat is enough) in a thin coat, because too much can take a long time to dry and it's messy. But if you're using a cheap nail polish, 2 coats is probably better. Wait for ~1 min to dry

4) Apply a clear top coat, that way it kind of ';seals'; your nail color in so that it chips less easily.

As for the little bumps in it ... I'd say something happened in the drying process, because that never happened to me. Perhaps you went over your somewhat damp nail polish with another coat and it looks like a mess? Next time, make sure the nail polish dried COMPLETELY before applying another coat.

Hope this helps. What's the best way to apply nail polish so that it lasts?
Add a clear coat, and your getting bumps on your nails because your repeating over the same side, dip the brush in start from cuticals and work down from there stating from the side of your nail and all the way to the other side, sot here ya goo =) nice nails that you will get. Any brands work as long as you know how to apply like above.

Polish lasts a long time just shut the lid when your done other wise the nail polish will dry out

hope this advice helped you =)

P.S. after your done applying it blow on it for 20 seconds and don't touch anything to prevent it form getting ruined
Sally Hansen: Double Duty.... it's both a clear base coat %26amp; top coat.

apply it before color, let dry. then apply color in THIN layers, let each dry before the next layer, then add the clear coating again so to prevent chipping!

i never had the bubbles when i used it!

oh %26amp; the bubbles are caused by layering nail polish that isnt yet dry!
Put it in the fridge (no kidding, it helps it last longer)

use remover to strip the nail of oils that mess up the polish

apply in many thin coats

top with clear polish

put on one coat of clear polish every other day to keep it from chipping
Any brands are just fine, its the way how you apply it.

After you apply nail polish, put your hands to the freezer for few minutes to let your polish dry,NEVER blow air or a fan to a wet nails it causes bumps and ruins the polish.
I hate to be a kill joy and you might enjoy doing your own nails but what I like to do is get my nails done at the salon, it's only $5 for them to polish my nails, they look great and lasts for weeks and weeks at a time.
the bumps are probably because your nails weren't thoroughly dry so they become bumpy. to make your nail polish last apply the color you want and wait till it drys. then apply the clear nail polish which will not only make it stay longer it will make it shiny
File your nails smooth and make sure all of the old polish is gone. After putting on the polish and it has a chance to dry, try adding a coat of clear polish.
Apply a top %26amp; base coat. Sally Hansen makes a combined one.
sally henson (I think that's the brand) is WICKED good! Apply two or three coats.
MASGLO... not easy to find but if you do buy tons of it.....

the best

I use it and it looks great fore about 10 days!
